The Plymouth Theatre was opened as a movie theatre on April 25, 1914. The theatre was located on the outskirts of the city and was a small neighborhood house. The area had eight theatres within walking distance of each other but the area was densley populated.
The Plymouth was a single floor theatre with a small lobby located mid-block. When the area changed, and the clientele changed, the theatre’s business dropped and it went to weekend-operation only. The Plymouth closed on April 19, 1953 with Gerald Mohr in “Invasion U.S.A.” & Vivien Leigh in “A Streetcar Named Desire”. The former theatre housed a church for a couple of years. The building was later torn down.

Theatre appeared as early as 1915 in the City Directory. Closed as a movie house in April 1953.
The Plymouth Theater opened at the corner of Hamilton and Plymouth on April 25, 1914 with movies. The Plymouth added sound to remain viable. It closed on April 19, 1953 with “Invasion U.S.A.” and “A Streetcar Named Desire.” It became a house of worship for the Calvary Temple the next year.
