The Tivoli Theatre was built as a neighborhood playhouse on the east side of the Willamette River by the Peoples Amusement Company. The name was chosen in a contest in which the winner received twenty dollars in gold. It opened on October 30, 1910 at what was then 515 N. Williams Avenue. It can be found in newspaper advertising as late as 1922.
