Opened as the Steinberg Theater, possibly a live theater, as it was not listed in Film Daily Yearbooks 1926-1928. It was renamed Regent Theater on September 28, 1928 with Louise Fazenda in “Domestic Troubles” & Bob Steele in “Breed of the Sunsets” and was listed in Film Daily Yearbooks from 1929 where it was listed with 1,300-seats.
It was listed as (Closed) in the 1937 edition of FDY when it had 1,000-seats. It had reopened by 1938 with 1,300-seats, only to close again in 1939 and continued to be listed as (Closed) thru 1943 with 1,000-seats.
The Box Office Magazine September 18, 1948 carried a piece stating “the Regent Theater on Elm Street was being demolished that year”. The site is a parking lot in 2024.

This reopened as the Regent theatre on September 28th, 1928. Grand opening ad posted. It was the Steinberg theatre, which did no newspaper advertising.
Uploaded a 1948 photo of the Regent.
Although I’ve found a few references to the Steinberg Theatre Company, and several to the Steinberg Theatre in Webster, Massachusetts, I haven’t found a single reference to a Steinberg Theatre in Worcester in any trade journals from the 1910s or 1920s.
Smaller theatres in the pre-sound era often did not place any ads.
