In the sound era of movie theaters, Beaufort had four operational theaters. Launching as the Sea Breeze Theatre, William L. Paul opened the venue in the silent era. Opening in 1911, Paul and son, Raymon, added Vitaphone and later sound on film to keep the venue viable.
Paul sold the venue in 1947 to the competing Everett Enterprises Theatre Circuit of Charlotte. It had a brief period of operation as the single-word Seabreeze Theatre before closing as the Sea Breeze. Everett Circuit closed on December 28, 1948 with “Frontier Marshall.” In 1950, the building is condemned and razed.
