The Midwest Theatres chain opened its fourth theater on the site of a former trailer park on November 2, 2001. Construction of the theater took nine months to build, but was briefly halted for a time due to the September 11th tragedy. In its original heyday, it featured stadium-seating, stereo sound in all seven of its screens, and DTS sound in selective screens.
CEC Theatres took over the Menomonie 7 Theatres on March 25, 2011 after a brief closure, which happened shortly after the Midwest Theatres chain declared bankruptcy.
