Theatre

This theatre appears on the 1911 Sanborn, in an old two-story commercial building that was constructed between 1893 and 1899. The 1905 map shows a furniture store here. An existing lodge hall and offices continued to occupy the second floor while the theatre operated.

This theatre was short-lived, and the 1923 map seems to show the ground floor vacant. A much larger theatre had been constructed next door around 1919, possibly to provide a better venue for the same operation.

The building remains today, but has a horrible flat front made of tile. It is used as a chapel by the neighboring funeral home.

Note that this street was called Broadway until sometime around 1920.
