This airdome appears on the 1911 Sanborn, located behind a small vacant building, the roof of which was used for projection. The airdome was seasonal and consisted of rows of wooden benches and a simple wooden stage.
The little projection building has a fascinating history. It began as the sample room for the Hiawatha House, which was a large rambling brick structure on the corner, and dated to sometime before 1885. By 1891, the hotel had disappeared (perhaps a fire?), but the tiny annex remained. It was then used as a sample room for a smaller wooden hotel to the west. Finally, by 1901, it became part of the W.S. White & Co. lumber yard (used to store cement), which was then replaced by the airdome.
The airdome itself had vanished by 1922, but the little piece of the long-vanished hotel survives today as a barber shop.
