Sanborn Maps 1918 show two movie theatres on State Street, one building apart. These were the first and second Virginia theatres. The new Virginia Theatre, not yet open when the maps were made, had the notation “From Plans”.

The first Virginia Theatre opened after 1909 as maps for that year show it as Billiards. The Blackfoot Idaho Republican reported the theatre was located in the Kearney Building and after the opening of the new Virginia Theatre on January 1,1919, it was remodeled into a store.

Reports in the Idaho Fall Post Register as late as 1965 referred to Francis M. Davis as the builder of the Virginia Theatre and Ralph Davis as the manager. Unfortunately, Francis M. Davis, age 84, died in an automobile accident on Thanksgiving Eve 1967.
