John A Pauley launched the nickelodeon-era Scenic Theatre playing movies accompanied by a live piano player on September 26, 1908 at 205 North Hamilton Street. In 1911, the theatre needed to double the size of its auditorium and moved two blocks away to Court Street Hill.

The new, larger Scenic Theatre opened July 29, 1911 at 308 Court Street and it now had a player piano. They claimed to have the latest photoplays. The west side theatre decided it could not transition to sound film closing on July 5, 1927 with John Barrymore in “The Sea Beast” accompanied by an Aesop’s Fable cartoon. It was retrofitted and became home to Saginaw Motor Sales.
