Located on Main Street, the Royal Airdome Theatre is one of the last airdomes in Florida, opening on March 28, 1925 with the Sunshine Monkey Comedians in “He’s My Pal”. It was also a replacement of another Airdome Theatre on Park Street which only operated for a few years earlier.

The Royal Airdome Theatre did have a short life, and the theater closed in the Spring of 1926. Later that year on September 17, 1926, the rear end of the Royal Airdome was blown away from severe winds during the Great Miami Hurricane. Across Fort Myers at the time, the nearby Arcade Theatre suffered 6ft of rainfall, while no damage was reported to the Omar Theatre nearby.
