Regent Theatre

The Regnant Pictures was opened on 1st October 1912 screening footage of the Titanic disaster plus 9 other short films. It had 600-seats. In 1918 it was enlarged to have its orchestra seating area extended by 25ft, and a balcony was added in 1920, increasing the seating capacity to 850. By 1937 it had been renamed Regent Theatre when it was operated by Thams Brothers who were the original operators in 1912. They were still the operators in 1960.

The building still stands in 2024 in use as a Chinese buffet restaurant.
