Novelty Theatre

Briefly known as the New Theatre, this small theatre appears on the 1920 Sanborn, in a one story brick building, which was constructed late in 1909. The theatre opened November 20, 1909. The owner was a Mrs. Zimmerman. On December 15, 1909, the theatre was renamed the Novelty Theatre.

This theatre had a rather peripheral location, and was quite a bit smaller than the other theatres then operating. It closed September 11, 1921.

The building today is in excellent shape. The storefront has been filled in, and it appears to be a residence.

The New Theatre opened on November 20, 1909. On December 15, 1909, it was renamed as the Novelty Theatre. The first exhibitrix in town was Mrs. Zimmerman and she operated until September 11, 1921. Two days later, carpenters removed the raised floor and theatre seats ending the Novelty’s run.
