Fern Theatre

This theater appears on the 1909 Sanborn. It was located in the eastern storefront of the old Opera House, a two story brick building constructed sometime before 1886. The 1898 map shows a furniture store here.

The 1914-15 American Motion Picture Directory lists a Fern Theatre No. 2 in Bedford. It’s not clear if this was that theater, or an earlier version. At any rate, this had closed by 1918, with a second-hand store shown in this location.

The building apparently collapsed around 2000, and the site is one of Bedford’s growing collection of vacant lots.
