Event Cinemas Havelock North

Located in Havelock North, in the Hawke’s Bay region of the North Island, the Cinema Gold opened at the end of 2003. It was part of a new retail development by Lowmac Properties on the site of a former garden centre. That had been operated by Des Joll (presumably hence the street name) since the 1970’s, and before that the site had been a brickworks and pottery established in the 1890’s by John Fulford.

In September 2015 the Cinema Gold circuit was acquired by Event Cinemas.

In December 2024 Event Cinemas announced that its tenancy would cease at the end of January 2025. In response, the landlord, Lowmac Properties, announced that the cinema would be taken over by Focal Point, a small, local circuit established by Matt and Julie Bell in 2007.

Seating capacities are: Screen 1:46, Screen 2:78 and Screen 3:124.
