In Kirkconnel, a small town in Dumfries & Galloway, it is not known when the Cinema House first opened.

It was certainly open by 1926. The proprietor and resident manager was R. Bolton.

By 1927 both positions had been taken over by Harry Bradley, who renamed it the Cinema and, when the talkies arrived, installed a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system.

It is not known when the Cinema closed. Judging by photographs held in the Cinema Theatre Association Archive it could have been open in August 1975 (its “CINEMA” signage was still intact) but a photograph on the Scottish Cinemas website dated June 1985 shows it closed, and the signage removed.

It is also not known whether the building went into other uses. However it has been demolished, and a car park now occupies the site.
