The peak attendance once went as high as 650,000 in 1998 due its long run of “Titanic” being a huge hit, and was the longest-running film at the theater. With an over the course of 20 years, the theater had a total of approximately 8.5 million visitors.

The theater remained open for over two weeks longer than the actual Utazu Vivre store, eventually closing on March 16, 2014. On its final day, in addition to the usual screenings, a special screening of the 1954 Japanese film “Twenty-Four Eyes” was shown in one screen.

At the time of the closure of Utazu Vivre, the Aeon Group had not yet decided what to do with the movie theater in the new facility, but there was a demand from the local community to reopen it. They did, and the Aeon Cinema Utazu reopened on October 24, 2015.
