This theater had opened by 1926. It was located in the northern storefront of the Syndicate Block, a two story brick commercial building constructed in 1891. The 1913 map shows a hardware store at this address.
The theater originally opened with 250 seats, but this was reduced to 190 in 1936. The theater was renamed the Mars Theatre on August 22, 1940 screening Humphry Bogart in “It All Came True”. It was operated by Marvin Fosse. The theater was closed in 1948, as the Mars Theater prepared to move to new premises further south.
The building today is in excellent shape. A really atrocious modern storefront has been removed, and the building is close to its historic appearance. This had been a bike shop, but appears to be vacant.
