In August 1953, Boxoffice magazine wrote that the Frontier Drive-In had opened two miles south of Cave Junction. It was owned by W. B. Roberts and Larry Musil, owners of M&R Theatres.

The 1955-56 Theatre Catalog included the Frontier Drive-In, capacity 300 cars, owners “W. Roberts, and Oregon Ths., Co-Op.”

A 1960 aerial photo showed an intact drive-in about two miles south of Cave Junction. It was still there in 1982, but its screen appeared to be missing by 1994. Traces of its ramps are still visible on the lot of the church that now occupies the site.
