The owners of the Linda Theatre (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures) built a bigger Streamline Moderne style theatre named the ‘New Sandy Theatre when it first opened in the 1940’s. It was soon renamed Sandy Theatre in the early-1950’s. The theatre struggled in the television age. It was closed in 1956 and became a short lived doctors office. It stood vacant for many years before it was demolished in 1963.
