The Tazewell Twin Cinemas opened its doors on May 11, 1978 with 262 seats in each auditorium. It was first managed by C.D. “Don” Dunford. Dolby sound was installed there on August 6, 1980 just in time for its screening of “The Empire Strikes Back”.
A third screen was added in June 1981, and was still open in 1999. The Tazewell Movie House closed as a first-run theater in 2012.
