On March 16, 1916, the Reedley Exponent reported F.M. Wagatt purchased property across from the Grand Hotel to erect an Airdome for the presentation of movies during the summer months. The first advertisements appeared on June 16, 1916: “The Girl and the Game”, staring Helen Holmes.
At first named the Grand Airdome, by 1926 it was called the Garden Airdome.
There was a previous Airdome in Reedley, which opened in August 1910 for plays only.
