The Ace Drive-In opened its gates on August 23, 1948 with Bing Crosby in “Variety Girl” (unknown if any extras added), and was named after owner Ken Benson’s old camera business during World War II in his hometown of Madison, Wisconsin, known as the Ace Camera Supply. The Ace name didn’t last long, and was renamed the Bright Leaf Drive-In in February 1952 and by 1955 it was operated by Stanley A. Benson.
It remained like that for seven more years until closing on October 10, 1959 with James Cagney in “Never Steal Anything Small” and John Payne in “Rebel in Town”.

A slightly closer address is 3362 W Palmetto St, Florence, SC.
This puts it right at the old entrance of the drive-in.
The drive-in is intact and operational in a 1957 aerial, but had been totally demolished by 1977.
Today, a small strip mall straddles what was the entrance and exit roads. South Stanly Drive cuts through the east side of the property. While most of what was the drive-in is covered in trees.
There is no trace of the drive-in remaining.
