The Ripon Record reported October 29, 1920, that the Liberty Theatre was under new management by the Lyric Theatre Co. of Stockton. It was later renamed the Lyric Theatre and in 1927 was purchased by William Peters, who later opened Manteca’s El Rey Theatre on April 15, 1937 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures) and theatres in Escalon, Los Banos, Ripon, Salida and Riverbank.
The Lyric Theatre was listed in editions of Film Daily Year Book starting in 1926 with 400 seats and in 1940 closed.
Sanborn Maps 1941 show the site replaced by shops across the street from the El Rey Theatre and in 2019 the Manteca Bulletin noted the building still existed as Legacy Furniture.
