Theater

This theater appears on the July 1912 Sanborn. It was located in an old two story brick commercial building that was constructed before 1886. The 1906 map shows a hardware store here.

Erie does not appear in the 1914-15 AMPD, but the 1926 Yearbook lists a closed theater called the Art Theatre. It’s possible this was the same building.

Once fairly dense with 1 and 2 story businesses, Erie’s downtown is now a sad collection of vacant lots and cheap sheds. The theater’s location is now a prefab office building that may date to the 1970’s or 1980’s.
