The Pendleton Motor-In existed by March 1948, when it was mentioned by the Heppner Gazette-Times as the sponsor of a basketball team. It was included in the first Theatre Catalog drive-in list in the 1948-49 edition, capacity 300 cars, owned by Steveson and Anderson. By the 1955-56 Catalog, the owner had changed to John Matlock and A. Adamson Ct.
A 1954 story in the Hermiston Herald gave “Pendleton’s Motor-In Theatre” the address of Southwest 23rd Street & Jay Street. A 1956 aerial photo showed a drive-in southeast of the intersection of modern-day 22nd Street and Tutuilla Road. The site was razed by 1964. Today it holds the Pendleton Parks & Recreation Cemetery Department.
