Located on E. Main Street close to the corner of N. Academy Street. The Academy Theatre operated as early as 1918 and was renamed the Carolina Theatre by 1929.
It was remodeled in 1935 and was renamed the Anderson Theatre by 1938. At the time, it was operated by the Anderson Theater Company chain, who also operated a dozen other theatres across South Carolina. In January 1968, the Anderson Theatre was renamed the Cinema Theatre. It was still open in the 1970’s, but its closing date remains unknown.
In recent years it has been in use as a church named The Ark.
