The 300-seat single-screen Towne Cinema was the first indoor movie theater to operate in Napanee since the 1958 closure of the Granada Theatre, opening on April 16, 1971 with Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke in Walt Disney’s “Mary Poppins”. It was first owned by Napanee Drive-In owner Steen Lemvigfog of Scarborough. The Napanee Drive-In served as the only movie theater in town during the 13-year indoor drought.

Its closing date remains unknown at this time.
