Kunkel Hall was constructed sometime before 1884. It was a good-sized two story brick building with an angled entry on the corner. There was a hall with stage and scenery on the second floor.
It is unknown when movies began to be shown, but they are noted on the 1919 map. If the operation began before 1914-15, then this was likely either the Irwin Amusement Co., or the Imp Theatre, both of which are listed in the AMPD. The Imp Theatre was definitely on Main Street.
The theatre had closed by 1925. The building continued to be used for retail on the ground floor. With an exceedingly ugly remodel, this building most recently held a Rite Aid, but that has now closed.

In case this house turns out to have been the Imp, here is an item about that theater from Moving Picture World of April 1, 1916: “Features at Imp Theater. Irwin, Pa.—The Imp theater, Irwin, Pa., was taken over recently by the Parkdale Company, comprised of Messrs. McMillan, Elder and Parker. It will be conducted hereafter as the house of features. The new owners have installed an organ, in addition to other improvements.”
