Theater

This early theater was open by 1923. It was located in a very old one story wooden storefront, built sometime before 1893, and which had been a hardware store. The store was still operating on the 1911 map. Sometime between 1899 and 1904, an addition was made to the rear, which served as an auditorium for the theater.

This theater must have opened after 1914-15, or perhaps been missed, as it does not appear in the AMPD. The theater was gone before 1926 (it is not listed in the Film Daily Yearbook), and the 1928 map shows this entire block to be vacant. There was likely a fire.

The address is a guess, but this was located roughly where the pharmacy is today.
