The Cluster Drive-In opened in 1950, named for its original owner Loren Cluster. It could accomodate 600 cars, and originally had a corral for pony rides for children.
After the Cluster Drive-In closed in the 1970’s, the drive-in was demolished, except for the foundation of the screen tower, which became a sidewalk for the church which was later built on the site, in a novel bit of reuse.

A new Drive In Theater was opened in Salem, Illinois in recent years but I’m not sure of the name.
Loren & Stewart Cluster were the co-managers of the Cluster Circuit in the early sixties. Cluster also operated the Palace in Johnston City, IL and the Globe, Lyric and Salem in Salem, IL.
Approx. location for this drive-in was south of Cross Rd. and next to Paradise Cemetary on South Broadway.
Correction: The Calvary Church is located at 2868 S Broadway, Salem, IL 62881. This is the drive in location.
Please update.
