The Teikoku Hall opened its doors on January 11, 1912, rebuilt in December 1915, and was later renamed Teikoku Theater following reconstruction that was destroyed during the final stages of World War II, reopening in December 1946.
On June 25, 1963, the theater closed for a multi-month renovation which ended that December, and reopened as the Okayama Shochiku that same month. The Okayama Shochiku would later become a directly managed theater for Shochiku, and would remain for 41 years until its final closure on February 24, 2006 because of declining audiences and the rise of multiplexes. It was demolished afterward to make way for a parking lot.
