The theater originally opened on December 29, 1976, as the Woolco Twin Cinema under the management of Gulf States Theatres. The opening movies were Ben Johnson in “The Town That Dreaded Sundown” & Dustin Hoffman in “Marathon Man”. Following the shutdown of Woolco operations in the US, it was renamed the Houma Twin on January 21, 1983, before shortening its name to the Twin Cinema in 1986. Ownership shifted to United Artists in 1987, and the theater ultimately closed its doors on October 21, 1999.
