Located at the southwest corner of College Steet and Manning Street. The King Theatre was opened in 1915 with 347-seats in a long narrow space. It presented vaudeville & silent movies. Renovations were carried out in 1932 to the plans of architect Saxon H. Hunter and the theatre was enlarged to seat 600. In 1942 it was taken over by Odeon Theatres Canada and it was renamed Kino Theatre, screening foreign movies. The area had become an Italian neighborhood. In 1948 it had reverted back to the King Theatre name. In 1952 it was renamed Studio Theatre and was renovated to the plans of architectural firm Kaplan & Sprachman. It was closed in 1969 and was demolished.
