Theater purchase Feb 1916

The Maywood, the earliest of the Chicago suburb’s three movie theaters (which also included the Yale and Lido) opened in the 1910s on 5th Avenue and seated around 500. It survived into the 50s, when it was razed to make way for a supermarket, which was, in turn, torn down in the 70s. The site is now a vacant lot.
