Mission Theater

The Mission Theatre replaced an earlier Mission Theatre dating from March 1, 1916. It was last operated by Robb & Rowley-United Inc. and was destroyed by fire on November 6, 1950.

A new Mission Theatre was built on the site by Rowley United Theatres Inc. I discovered the lonely little Mission Theatre on a quiet street near downtown. It had closed on May 14, 2001 with Heath Ledger in “A Knights Tale” On a return trip recently and sadly, I discovered it to be gone.

I’m sad to hear that this lovely theater is gone. Recently, I ran across a couple of photos I took of it back in 1987. Here are the links:

In the photo on Google, the theater is gone, but you can still see the steps and the handicapped ramp. Too bad.

I worked at the Mission for many years in just about every capacity – concessions, box office, projectionist and janitor. I also worked at the Hi Vue Drive In on occasion. It’s a shame to see them gone.

Hello to anyone who may be browsing this photo. I was curious if anyone has any older pictures of this theater? I have a piece of art work that I was told had come from here, but I have yet to see any pictures of it

The Mission Theatre launched March 1, 1916 as a replacement for a previous Mission Theatre that burned. It closed on Mary 14, 2001 with the film, “A Knight’s Tale.” It has since been demolished.
