This theater opened to the public as the Plaza Twin on October 30, 1970, following a benefit premier the previous night. It was a joint venture of Mid Continent Theatres and the Dubinsky circuit, operating under the name R&D Theatres. In the original twin configuration it had 900 seats, according to several Boxoffice items of the period.
Boxoffice of November 23, 1970, said that the Plaza Twin was designed by Mel Glatz & Associates. The opening feature in the Plaza I was “The People Next Door” and the Plaza II featured “The Boatniks.”
It’s official. The Plaza Three is becoming the new MidDakota Clinic. It was mention by columnist Crystal Reid in the Bismarck Tribune this last week. Here’s a link to the article.

Just found out that the old theatre area is in the midst of being converted into a clinic. Perfect idea in Bismarck. This will be the second clinic in the mall, unless it means that the clinic will move from the current smaller spot into the bigger spot where the theatre was.
Oh, it’s Bowen Street, Not Bowman Street.
According to the Kirkwood mall website, the mall map shows the spot where the theater once was(spot 15 on the map with no store claiming it). The theater was only accessible from the outside of the mall. There is no entrance inside the mall. It is closed and is sitting empty, so far.
This theatre has been closed for at least 7 years, maybe longer.
IF this theatre is still operating it’s operating as an Independent. It is not listed on carmike.com or movies.yahoo.com.
