Okay, maybe that was a little rude, but just because you have a good time somewhere really doesn’t make it a treasure in the sense that this site is intended for. I went and saw lots of movies at the Meyer Park 14 in Houston when I was going to high school, but that doesn’t make it any place special. I’d never dare list such a nondescript box on this site. Besides, the impermanent low quality of these buildings means that none of them is likely to last anywhere near as long as your marriage. I’d give most of them 20-30 years tops before they need to be gutted or torn down.
Do you have a daughter named Applebees?
I love DanBarry South, I meet my wife seeing a
movie one night back in 1999 at this theater . DanBarry South is and always will be a Cinema Treasure to me and my family.
We even named our son Daniel Barry after the cinema.
Glad someone out there agrees. It seems like lately there have been a lot of these pointless entries cropping up. I would like to see the site administrators winnow out all the garbage, and post some guidelines. I think the vast majority of us agree with at least a general definition of ‘treasure’. I cannot see what possible ‘treasure’ criteria theaters like this meet.
Well said Seth, I could not agree more. This is a site for “Classic” movie theaters, not cracker jack box theaters.
Wow, I’m sure it’s a real gem. Why do we even have dumps like this on the site? It is Cinema Treasures, no? Not ‘A Complete List of Every Theater in the US’. I suspect some of these people are just corporate flacks. If I memorialized every dog turd that cinema chains have dumped on the American landscape, I could have listed thousands. I even go to them, but they are by no means treasures.
