The IMAX screen at this theater is the only theater in Vegas to have a 1.43 IMAX screen, but problem is, the projectors are STILL xenons, therefore it can only open up to 1.90 and unfortunately enough, go up to 2K resolution. Not sure if Brenden will ever plan to replace the projectors for laser capabilities anytime soon.
opening date: November 21st, 2001
grand opening ad posted.
Closed (Temporary) as the casino is taken over by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Webshot posted.
Auditorium #3 has the DTS-X system and I heard it yesterday – for ‘Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2’ – and it was incredibly impressive. The set up is similar to and could be best described as a hybrid of Auro 11.1 and Atmos – height channels above four of the four side speakers (both sides) / and non-mono ceiling speakers (six to be exact – two in the middle and four [front left ceiling, rear left ceiling, middle front, middle middle, front right ceiling, rear right ceiling]) and the back surround channels, as in 7.1 setups. DTS-X also places sound sourcing just outside of the screen with two additional speakers just to the left and right of the screen (as Dolby Atmos does too).
Now it’s just a waiting game to see what other studios, other than Lionsgate, will bite the DTS worm and release more movies mixed as such
according to their website one of the auditorium’s features DTS' new DTS-X sound system.
Sigh…
You mean “JB-X,Johnny Brenden Xtreme, An Xtreme Movie Experience”. LOL.
Screen 1 has been upgraded to what Brenden Theatres is calling “JBX” (Johnny Brenden Experience). As per their official website, “Experience Johnny Brenden’s custom 17,000 watt sound system featuring 16 subs and is fully 7.1 capable. Our Barco 4K resolution projector brings the magic to life on a giant wall to wall screen.”
Just some additional notes:
The IMAX auditorium (screen 8) implemented a rail system prior to the release of The Dark Knight Rises. Depending on which format the studio provides, the IMAX system can play films in digital or 15/70.
Outside of the IMAX upgrade, as of summer 2012, all of their auditoriums were upgraded to Barco digital projectors. The biggest addition being that of the Dolby Atmos installation in one of their auditoriums (screen 5) to boot.
Yes, they did a great job on this theater.
What a great website for BRENDEN THEATRES. It would appear that these are first class theatres. The auditoriums and lobbys appear to be ornately decorated, with a “classic theatre” appearance. No shooting gallery appearence here!
Was also surprised that Brenden is the grandson of Ted Mann. The newer MANN THEATRES built in the 70’s and 80’s certainly do not look like the BRENDEN THEATRES of today.
This multiplex was designed by the firm Behr Browers Architects, of Westlake, California. Among the firm’s many other cinema designs are the Brenden Theatres Vacaville 16 in Vacaville, California, and the Brenden Theatres Modesto 18 in Modesto, California.
I’m not sure exactly when this theater was built, but it’s fairly new, within the last few years.
I saw “Gangs of New York” in this theater when I was in Las Vegas. It was a quite comfortable theater, and a nice place to take a break in all the “Chaos” that is Las Vegas.
