Chase Park Cinema stadium interior

This was the newest theatre opened in the city of St. Louis on March 26, 1999. It is located in the Old Chase Park Plaza Hotel. The address is given on North Kingshighway but the theatre entrance is actually on Lindell Boulevard. The theatre is located in the hotel where they used to hold wrestling at the Chase.

Stadium seating and very well appointed lobbies and auditoriums, which have a modern interpretaion of old time Atmospheric style theatres. It is privately operated and not part of a chain. The Chase Park Plaza Theatre, the Hi-Pointe Theatre and the Moolah Temple are the only three theatres left operating within the city limits.

The cinema complex is located in what once was the Chase Club…probably the best nightclub in St. Louis.

From chase.stlouiscinemas.com:
The theaters at Chase Park Plaza Cinemas consist of five intimate auditoriums with luxury seating, all-digital sound systems and “state of the art” projection.

This unparalleled design and composition effectively sets a new standard for the St. Louis cinematic experience.

Renowned architect Salim Rangwala, in conjunction with innovative cinema operator Harman Moseley, worked together with nationally recognized artist Dick Godwin to transform the former Chase Club into five modern day atmospheric theaters.

With a stadium seating “presentation theatre” and trompe I'eoil masterpiece in each auditorium, the Chase Park Plaza Cinemas are high tech representations of the Hollywood studios' great screening rooms of the past. This unique cinema concept is now offered for the first time to the discerning movie going public at the extraordinary redevelopment of a St. Louis landmark, the one and only Chase Park Plaza.

This is a very nice theatre. The arrangement is a bit odd; the box office is right inside the Lindell entrance, but the concessions and auditoria are located farther inside the building, down some hallways and through another interior lobby. If you don’t know where you’re going and don’t see the (smallish) signs, you may get lost between the box office and your seat.

I saw ‘Drive’ there last Saturday evening (9/17) and it was a wonderful experience. And the organist did in fact play before the screening (for which he received applause). Too cool. An enjoyable venue.
