The Emerald Theatre was another neighborhood house and one of many located along Prospect Avenue. It was about eight blocks east of the Woodland Theatre. The Emerald Theatre was opened March 29, 1913 and seated a little over 700. For many years it operated as the Circle Theatre. It was renamed Pix Theatre on February 11, 1944 and closed around 1955. It has since been demolished. It was located on Prospect Avenue between E. 35th Street and E. 36th Street.

The Emerald Theatre was in operation by 1915, according to the date the Kansas City Library gives this photo of it. The following year the operators opened an airdome across the street, according to this item from the July 22, 1916, issue of The Moving Picture World:
The Emerald became the PIX Theater in the early 50s but was closed around 1955.
This opened on March 29th, 1913. Grand opening ad.
Reopened as Pic on February 11th, 1944. Ad in the photo section. Ads as Emerald disappeared from 1920-1944. Was this closed during this time or did not bother to place ads.
This was known to many locals as the Circle Theatre housed in the Circle Theatre Building - the name it had for the majority of its operating years. (When it closed, an article referred to it as the former Circle Theatre.) It did, however, open as the Emerald and close as the Pic.
