Unfortunately, the State Theatre has been gutted, and only the theater’s facade has been preserved.

In 2001, it was in retail use, and by 2009, it has become a nightclub.

Although this space is currently listed as the State Theatre, it was simply named 69 Bathurst for many years. It had various incarnations as restaurants and nightclubs. However, where is the evidence this space was ever a cinema? Having been in the space several times, its a big room with exposed brick walls and large wood columns within the space. A typical warehouse space. Unlikely this was ever a cinema. The listing above is very vague and lacking a lot of info. What theater facade has been preserved? There was no ‘theater’ facade to preserve. Anyone with more info?

As far as I know, the only State theatre in Toronto was on Bloor St, between Keele and Dundas. It’s listed in here as the Bloordale, but it was known as the State, a 20th Century theatre until it closed.
