The gas station next to the theatre was named “Norman Gas for Less.” The proprieter was a Texan named Rex. He also did auto repair and his mechanics were named George and Larry. There was also a candy store on Parkside called The Yum-Yum Tree.

I hat to bust the non-theatre bubble here, but considering I am only in my 30’s, there is NO WAY I could have worked at the gas station next to the theatre.

Duper was being FACETIOUS…we got a great belly laugh that tou took that and ran with it. I would, at this time, admit I am also Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Trix Rabbit, Captain Crunch and Evel Knievel…

I am not suddenly sending letters, I have done it all along. However, the Village is NOT being named as a future contact AT ALL. This will, I believe raise the odds of getting a positive response…

The very first 3d movie I watched was at the duper. It was the “house of wax”.It was a very scary movie in those days.We walked/ran home after the end of the movies. There were hardly any street lights in those days.It was a very scary walk /run home.I know that I have a pair of those 3d glasses
that the theatre owner provided.Somewhere.
Those old movie projectors were still in the theatre.I saw them there not to long ago. At least Big Idea Corp.
didn’t pitch them when they started to restore the theatre.

Sure. I remember the filling station along side Parkside.I used to work there. It was not part of the theatre and shoppes.Much later it became a small used car lot.
The assistant principal of York High School in Elmhurst also worked there
part time. That was a while ago.
I remember the real estate office on the Parkside shoppes. The barber shop on the Main St.side of the theatre and shoppes.Art and Vi’s restaurant on the corner of the theatre and shoppes.

No balcony….and when it was triplexed it was two small viewing rooms and the larger main screen. Awful really. And even then falling plaster, sticky floors, uncomfortable seats, filthy restrooms, overpriced concessions, but then seeing a second run flick for a buck, who complained (except the fire marshall)? It was the beginning of the end. And always plenty of free parking right next door…or down Parkside. Really old timers will remember the gas station that was there along Parkside.

Robert. The last operator/owner of the theatre just bastardized the theatre. He just poured concrete down the 2 main isles to make ramps. Then painted the concrete. He even poured concrete right on top of carpeting.
In an attempt to save some of the restoration costs,a team of volunteers broke and removed all of that concrete. There were piles and piles of concrete that were removed.

I wondered if the theatre had a balcony or not. How was it triplexed?

I remember the days when going to the Dupage Theatre you actually got to see two full length movies. In between movies there were really great live acts. The Theatre was always packed on Friday and Saturday nights.Parking was always hard to find.People sometimes had to park a long way from the theatre.I always wondered why there was no balcony. That would have made it really great.
It would be great if this theatre could be restored to it’s original beauty and charm.

True class. As usual you are wrong.I am who I am.Just duper supporter. I have no other identity. But if you want to believe that I am all of those others SO BE IT.I will humor you.Have it your way.I really don’t care.

Duper,
Please give us some type of commentary about my last post. If you choose to ignore my request, we will accept your decision to ignore as an admission that you are Dupersupporter, dupagedude, the murph, restorationrita and, the truth.

Now that you have made baby steps by admitting (getting caught) about dude, it’s time to come clean on the others so we can begin the business of discussing the theatre.

It’s time to start the healing Jim.

Jim,
You are making good progress. At least you have admitted to one of your personalities…..
Yea you are right.I am the dude.Do you feel better now.I will humor you.

Unfortunately, you only admitted it because you got caught in your lies in an earlier post. You discuss between dude and supporter about meeting for lunch as usual. In a later post you ask who the “Dude” is….How embarrassing for you. Here are the tell-tale posts:

Dupage Dude Who is this Lynch guy anyway.Does he also go by the name Lombard resident?

Yea.I got them.I will get out as many as I can.I have to get more stamps.
I used most of them already on my own letters.
No “problem”.Consider it done.

Great, I appreciate all the help. I have 2 more stacks to give out tomorrow at lunch, we’re meeting at the Grove again, just like last week.

As ussual true class you are WRONG. Imagine that? Nothing new there. To bad.Duper supporter is not Dupage dude, or JIM ,or murphy, or restoration rita.Who exactly is this Dupage dude? I Duper supporter have only one computer and use only one browser and use only one name.
But thanks for the tips. I will try them “TOMORROW”

Dupe neighbor.Spare me your little knowledge of TIF.
The TIF was to be used to finance the restoration of an historical building.Yes an historical building in the “very” heart of Lombard’s historical district.
It’s amazing. The TIF money needed for the rejected RSC proposal would have been only $4 million .Oh my gosh. That is only 40% of the total cost for the restoration.Oh my gosh. That sure is is a far cry from 70%-80% of the costs.Isn’t it?
BTW .What do consider the “fiscally appropiate” use of TIF MONEY?
BTW.If TIF is not on your or my tax bills ,then is it a tax?

DuperDude-

Answer the question – WHERE DOES THE $$ COME FROM?

Private donations? No! TIF dollars are not an endless supply of free money from benefactors who support art. It is TAX INCREMENT FINANCING and it is to be used in an fiscally appropriate manner to promote development of tax generating districts. It is NOT meant to be the primary source of funds to restore a dilapidated theatre whose future as a profitable venue is bleak at best! Some TIF for a new theatre development, maybe. 70-80% – NO!! Raise your own stinkin money or go away. BTW- just because something is not on your tax bill does NOT mean it is not tax dollars, quit trying to snow people.

I love how NOW you and your alter egos are supposedly writing letters to corporate America for help. Where was this push for private dollars in the last 5 years? You never bothered because you expected and DEMANDED this project be paid for with our TIF dollars! Guess again.

Have your crumb cake and Coke , take your lithium and turn in early. Your game is over.

REALLY.You had better try harder. You flopped on that one.

DMS
DMS on October 25, 2005 at 1:31 am

Get real duper – where do you think TIF $$ comes from? The magic TIF Fairy?

Quit talking to yourself on this message board and go write some more fictious letters to your big corporate sponsors. Still waiting to see the Sara Lee and Coca Cola trucks come pouring into Lombard to save the day. I’m sure their donation will come in the form of 1000 crumb cakes and 100 cases of Cokes. That’s good because those demolition guys get hungry and thirsty while they are hard at work.

You really need to stop going to plays and join reality.

As usual – my sides ache from your delirious multiple personality posts, Jim! Keep it up….it’s comic relief.

(you can open 2 browsers at once or use a lap top with a router at the same time to achieve the kind of duplicity that he is attempting. Wake up people! Look at the atrocious spelling and grammar mistakes!)

Thanks for your observations. No tax dollars were ever planned for the restoration of this theatre. We never wanted or planned to restore and operate the theatre with taxpayer money.
