hdtv267, your point is well taken and we can all share the blame for some of the irrelevant posts. I can’t address the bandwidth issue so I don’t know to what extent it’s affected. Lastly, I have never thought of this as a “post competition” (don’t think my buddies Justin and Mike do either so there’s no need to feel sorry for us). I can’t speak for all the others.

Mike, don’t even think of dropping out. You’re “family”.

Guys this is what i got on National Hills Theatre.I must be bad luck,so i will just read what you guys up there discuss. In fairness to Justin,JJD and a couple others I have seen posts about theatres where guys end up posting about RADIO stations,so it happens quite a bit,but I guess we do get Off Topic like so many others.Right Justin and JJd.

I know gone with the wind did quite well, even in re-releases. They should do an IMAX version since the screen size is right for it, probably for its 75th anniversary in 2014!!! It’s still the highest grossing epic movie ever too, back when ticket prices were real low.

Adjusted to inflation I read “GONE WITH THE WIND” is still the higest grossing film of all time.Ticket prices up so high; so does it really mean anything to set a Box Office record? Just asking as an old theatre manager.

Resident Evil Afterlife dominated the boxoffice due to its 3-D prices, crushing its competition. The overall weekend box office was not good. Hopefully things will pick up with Harry Potter, the new Facebook movie, Tron 2, and other movies.

Checking out listings…digital projection is coming to more screens. Last Exorcism and Machete are getting 2d digital projection.

I am pretty sure all theatres need to be on guard, even back in the 70’s we had a problem with crabs at a theatre i worked at,At least that is what everyone thought the source was,who knows.Bed Bugs seem to be everywhere now.

This theater and east hanover have the bedbug issues that have plagued the Empire as well as other AMC theatres. I’m sure the Orkin man is not that pleased lol. Hopefully they spray enough bedbug spray in all of the screens to keep it safe from happening again.

Hey Mike, YOU might be the new champ! Look out Justin! I’m nowhere near that number and won’t live that long to see it. Earlier this year I was approaching 100 (I might be over that by now). Our friend was over 500. You’re over 4300? Join the “Get a Life” Club! Free membership! LOL.

JJd,you mentioned.“I need to get a life” on your “PIRANHA 3D” flick. I just had CT member {tlsloews} tell me I have put over 4300 posts so I think I got you beat in that department.I can see how this can be habit forming! LOl.

Avatar 3D is now listed correctly as Avatar Special Edition in RealD 3D this weekend.

And coming up next weekend, Resident Evil Afterlife comes out in Digital IMAX 3D as well as RealD 3D, not to mention 35mm 2D. It’s September already slimshady, are all screens going to get digital projection anytime soon? We have more 3D movies coming out, not to mention more movies being shown in 4k, such as The Social Network, which was shot with a 4K camera. I never seen a 4K movie in a theater, just 4k 3D and 2k 2D at the AMC in GSP as well as the Clearviews in Succasunna and Mansfield.

Seems that people are getting tired of seeing anything that’s great in 3d due to poor box office and high ticket prices. That was the case with the extended version of Avatar which didn’t crack the top 10 but so far has added $3 million to its massive gross. About 70% of the gross came from 3D and Imax 3D showings of the epic movie. Since then, the grosses for each 3D version of a big movie have shrunken. Maybe if AMC lowers 3-D ticket prices would bring moviegoers back to see 3-D movies, especially those that were shot in true 3D. The next movie I’m going to see in 3D will probably be Resident Evil Afterlife, and as for IMAX I won’t bother seeing anything.

Saw Piranha 3D again today (I know, I know, get a life!)…this time in Theater 13 and it was much brighter than last week’s showing in (I think it was in Theater 7). So, lack of light is not necessarily characteristic of the movie itself but it appears to have been that particular projector in 7 for that particular movie. Other 3D movies in 7 were fine. Don’t know much about digital projectors but is it possible to adjust the amount of light getting through or is that amount fixed? BTW, the movie is not doing that well and yet it’s getting excellent reviews (for a change)…I don’t get it! It’s the perfect summer movie for today’s intellectually challenged moviegoer (like me).

Just for laughs, here’s a video showing trailer snippets of movies that were shown, now playing, and coming soon in 3d.

Yesterday, Avatar broke through the $750 million mark with a $1,000,000 gross due to the re-release of the movie. JJD, did you see the extended version in realD? Are any of the extended scenes worth seeing or should I wait until the longer cut on bluray? The longer cut, from what I read, will have about 16 minutes of more footage than the theatrical cut, which is the version most fans prefer since the re-release is not doing well at the box office. There’s some good articles in EW and Time about the declining state of 3-D movies since Avatar opened. Hopefully it will rebound once Harry Potter and Tron Legacy come out.
