oh great, then since you agree you’ll be contacting AMC and or the theatre complex itself and checking Fandango for ticket information instead of coming here.

maybe you should. I contact AMC regularly about my concerns and they are very receptive to it. Especially if its a theatre I visit often and have a connection to.

Coming onto a message board and prattling on without something really getting done, doesn’t help anyone, does it?

have you contacted AMC about this? I’m not sure what purpose it is serving here.

It would be cool if the AMC in Rockaway got the same features that the AMC in Paramus has, such as luxurious seats as well as an ETX screen. Ranking the three AMC 16 plexes, this is third, with the Garden State 16 leading the way while Clifton Commons is second.

i liked it too. This version is the 24 fps version, not the HFR Imax 3D version. The picture quality in 3d is awesome and the sound is immersive. The star trek preview was great in 3d as well as the 3d preshow.

why don’t you go and see the different versions, then come back and actually give us a real report.

“ From what I heard…” that isn’t really helpful to anyone.

For example, I saw the Digital IMAX 3D in my region and really enjoyed the picture quality, it was beautifully shot and nicely told version.

Not EVERY IMAX 3D showing of this film will have the Star Trek preview attached, please do your homework before coming on here.

Thank you.

From what i heard, the 48fps version in reald3d is getting bad reviews by critics and some fans. One bright side, the image in 3d is much sharper than regular 3d and imax 3d, making the movie more like a video game and/ or soap opera. If you go to the imax showing, a 9 minute trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness will play before the movie, where as for 2d and 3d showings of the hobbit the trailer will show. Pricing for both HFR 3D and reald 3d are the same, with imax 3d the most expensive.

That’s good to hear.

Hi moviebuff. That jaggy grid like picture your describing is probably the first of what will be many complaints in the years to come. Its probably the digital projection, and more than likely something is starting to go, a component or something. As far as 48 fps, you know my feeling as a long time projectionist, if it aint broke, dont fix it. But then again I said the same thing about 35mm and no one listened or cared. Just another in a long list of reasons im glad Im almost out of the business. 4 days a month now is too much for me. Im enjoying stagework at the Prudential Center so much more.

Went to see the twilight saga breaking dawn part 2 last night, and they had the sound back on during the preshow but no slides before the preshow. Pretty weird. The presentation was pretty good and the sound was awesome. One thing I noticed is that if you sit closer to the screen it looks kinda jaggy with a grid-like picture. They showed the hunger games catching fire teaser which I haven’t seen online, and that was cool. Popcorn and soda combo is so expensive….no ticket takers near the box office, just that the cashier tore the ticket apart for me to bring into the theater. Movie not that crowded at all. Next week will be busy with the Hobbit dominating the box office. I heard reports that some people felt queasy after seeing the 48fps version of the hobbit…in this case, I’m so used to watching 24fps movies so standard imax 3d is a go.

Went to see Skyfall in imax today, the film and presentation was great but the preshow, which runs on sattelite, had audio issues due to the hurricane that affected the dishes, so there was no sound. Hopefully they fix it soon next time I go see a movie. The theater was crowded mostly due to Twilight. Skyfall wasn’t that crowded.

Lincoln is now playing at this theater, in addition to The Sessions. Twilight Breaking Dawn part II is playing on plenty of screens and is doing robust business. Skyfall is still playing in IMAX in addition to regular format, i plan on seeing it on sunday morning to avoid the crowds later in that day.

AMC Rockaway will show the hobbit in HFR 3D on Mega screen, according to fandango, in addition to regular and imax 3d showings. A lord of the rings marathon showing all three extended versions of the saga will be shown before the movie’s release.

did the hurricane do any damage to this theater? AMC must be lucky to close this theater the day the storm came in…now that power is restored to rockaway…people will start coming back to the movies while shopping for groceries. Lots of good films out…

Went to see a 4:50 showing of Argo. It was pretty good. I liked how Ben Affleck used grain in some scenes to make it like a 70’s movie. The 4k projection makes it look that way. Can’t believe all the hype for Skyfall during the preshow with a Sony commercial for gadgets and a making of trailer. The sound quality of the First look sucks. It’s only in right channel audio with no surrounds while the feature and trailers are in 5.1 surround sound. This is the same 2k format used for sattelite fathom events. 4k I believe was used for Lawrence of Arabia 50th a few weeks ago. As for AMC’s new ad campaign, I like it. Pretty simple.

Saw Frankenweenie in 2D 4k last night. It was pretty good. The animation at times was a bit herky jerky but that’s what the director of the film intended it to be. Soundtrack was great and crowd was well behaved. Too bad the auditorium was a bit messy with some pieces of popcorn on the floor. At least the workers at amc will clean it up after the show is over. Next movie i want to see is Argo.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower will play at this theater this weekend. Skyfall in imax digital and regular 4k tickets are now on sale as well. Skyfall will be my fifth James Bond film that I’ll see on the big screen. Tomorrow Never Dies in 5.1 SDDS (Loews Wayne), The World is Not Enough in Dolby Digital 6.1 EX (GC Clifton Commons), Die Another Day in DTS ES(Clearview Mansfield), and Quantum of Solace in 5.1 Dolby Digital (this theater), which i saw twice.

This past weekend was busy at amc. Hotel Transylvania was #1 and Looper was #2. Can’t believe the batman movie is still playing in this theater after a few months. The bluray will come in December. I went to see Paranorman in 2D at AMC in one of the smaller screens. Picture quality was pretty good for a claymation flick. Has some thrills and chills. Advanced tickets are on sale for Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2, and shows start at 10 p.m. the day before the movie comes out. Kinda early before midnight, but that helps the young twihards who want to see this final vampire romance movie. Hobbit tickets go on sale in November. Any word on when Skyfall tickets go on sale?
