Those of you that insist on the personal attacks and inuendos seem to have no interest in coming to a compromise on this issue. That really is too bad for Lombard.
Those of us that want a united Lombard will work around you. It is destructive behavior of the worst kind. I agree with Ms. Dynako- please contact her if you really want to help!
Go to work on something that will help – we will all feel better!

hdtv267, Deb is one of the few people who in recent weeks has kept off the Board, and when she does post, she has something constructive to say. What she is trying to do is not childish or inane. She is trying to get both sides to work together to save the theater. If you want to shut off inane comments, why don’t you try to get Dupage Dude or Concerned Taxpayer 2 to quit posting? I doubt the moderators will ever shut off this board, they themselves would see that as censorship. The people against the theater have boards on which they can post there inane and childish comment. This site had been the board for people that supported the theater to post comments.

Dupage Dude, why do you care what Deb Dynako is doing? At least she is doing something, other than insulting and irritating everyone on this board. What is wrong with her talking to people against the theater? Maybe she can accomplish something that way, because it is obvious to everyone but you that your way is not working.

Even worse Jim – you are harassing an 80 YEAR OLD woman!!!

Moderators I hope you are reading this – this sick man has become unhinged and who knows what maniacal ravings will come out of his mouth next?

Just read those nonsensical posts – does he sound like someone who is looking for preservation?

If you’re smart you’ll pull the plug on this board and this lunatic.

Jim,
My husband and son would like to speak with you and your wife. We will drop by this weekend sometime. This needs to come to a end.

Look at who is saying this board should be shut down…the anti-theatre minions. Whay is that? Because they don’t want; 1. Any more support from “outside” to the project (including $$)2. A website that they could not control and censor, unlike their own… That’s really it! I, and others post on here to present the ACTUAL TRUTH around here…

Defaming who? Read this post…“The charges are not false. If you would like to discuss them with me, you know where I live Jim. I will gladly go to the police station with you to discuss the matter. Anything to get you to stop. At the very least Jim, leave the girl alone. She forwarded the disgusting e-mail you sent to her on Thursday. Shame

If that isn’t proof that it is time to strike this board, I don’t know what is?

Now he’s defaming a 70 year old woman who has lived in Lombard for decades and has never posted on this board.

There’s going to be another lawsuit soon if he is not stopped. He’s mentally unbalanced and doesn’t know when to shut his mouth.

That’s just special!! Tell me, have any of them even given their REAL NAMES? Do you meet at night, with them wearing bags over their heads?
As long as you are willing to admit that you are now talking to the OPPOSITION and willing to accept the consequences of such actions. Wait till you get bit by that leopard that painted over it’s spots. It’s gonna hurt BAD!!!

So Challenged, if a project in the VOL was funded COMPLETELY with TIF dollars, would you be against it?

If names are going to be named, add ANN PUZAN, AKA True Class (or, more correctly, Truly Classless) to the list of those who should be banned. There is no reason to post people’s addresses on here, yet she did. Maybe an “anti-theatre directory” of those against the theatre should be posted, so people know who to ask why the theatre should be destroyed?

I am really amused that Ms. Dynako NOW comes on here to ask about people’s reasoning for being against TIF and the theatre…EXCUSE ME, I believe I asked those questions WEEKS, if not MONTHS ago, and didn’t get an answer then either!!! Speaking of unanswered questions, I am STILL waiting for an answer to this one..Ms. Dynako, do the Friends know EXACTLY who you are speaking to (anti-theatre wise)?

If that is the case, then I would appreciate any productive conversation/ideas for saving the DuPage Theatre to head to my email address:

Thanks to those who have tried to take the conversation to a higher level.

Regards,

Deb Dynako

I agree, think the message board should be wiped clean and shut off from any more comments.

I agree with hdtv267 – pull the plug on the whole Dupe board. It only serves as a platform for Mr. Devitt (duper supporter, dupagedude, restoration rita, etc.) to continue to inflame and antagonize the residents who opposed the now defunct development plan.

There has been contact between both sides off this board regarding setting up a time to have a constructive dialog so that perhaps a solution can be found before demolition. This message board no longer serves any positive purpose. It’s pointless. I too have e-mailed the moderator.

HDTV, I, along with several other so called “anti theatre” posters, have contacted the moderators multiple times and have been told they are actively monitoring the content of this dialogue. And you are right that it is a waste of bandwidth but then isn’t much of the web?

As for the use of tax dollars as brought up civilly by Ms. Dynako, as compared to the constant ranting of others, Save Our Treasures and tax credits are a great addition to the project when combined with private investment. There is, simply, next to no private equity in the theatre project. It is nearly 98 percent “taxpayer intervention” in some way, shape, or form. The project should be at least 51% private investment so that the risk is placed first on the investors and not the taxpayers.

And you are right that we should start lobbying for change….for some of the ridiculous government funding to instead be funneled to key things like health care and equalization of education funding. And don’t think that I have not lobbied for that with many, many local, state, and federal officials for the past ten plus years. And it is because of the reliance that local schools all across Illinois have on local property tax revenues that I am a watchdog on TIF abuse. TIF applied correctly is a win-win but this theatre project is certainly over reliant on TIF funding. Did you read about the TIF stunt they pulled in affluent Oakbrook? Unreal and yes I did send multiple letters objecting to it…because that project greatly impacts Lombard with the added traffic congestion and “competition” for sales tax dollars with the Yorktown and Fountain Square developments. With that new Oakbrook development we get all the congestion and none of the benefits.

Challenger & Concerned TaxPayer,

I just have a question regarding your opposition to tax use for public projects—-these taxes are allowable for use for projects such as the DuPage Theatre under law. They come as HISTORIC tax credits and various grants, etc. Why are you opposed to our use of such funds? I’m not trying to mix subjects, but many types of these “tax forms” are used throughout the Village in BIG and little amounts. Getting the credits/TIF/grants is no easy task and takes applications, interviews and political influence to get the money in the first place. Everyone out there is after it—-because that’s what it’s there for. I guess if I were you, I’d start lobbying the lawmakers so that this use of your tax dollars is no longer an option. But don’t say the DuPage Theatre doesn’t deserve these types of funds if you’re not willing to scrutinize other such projects in the same manner—-even those in other communities (because they’re getting YOUR tax money through these options as well as we could).

I’ll tell you later who to send your membership check to…The Shell station in Algonquin had a promotion today, sort of a “roll back the prices” special.

Rita,
You spelled it wrong agin. It’s “Truly” with one “L”

For those of you that want to see some more wonderful pictures of the Dupage Theatre, go to the www.lombardvillagevoice.com website. The message board there has some photos posted under the DuPage Theatre sub-category of “the historical commission saga”

Hey Rita…you tell us where gas is only 1.46 a gallon today and I will join the friends and never post against your pet project again. And what good does the TIF extension do when the only date your theatre has is a date with the wrecking ball? Maybe the TIF extension can help pay for the new parking garage.

Trully Classless, I do have to alopogize, I just reread my post and realized I spelled TRULY wrong. I know how much you like to jump on other people for errors, especially since you apparently NEVER make any

So truky Classless is trying to school someone and she is the one that needs schooling HA HA HA!! That’s soooo funny!!! Why would our property taxes have to go up? The theatre property has not paid taxes for several years, and no one has said that’s why my property taxes are going up. The police and fire departments having to buy brand-new FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES every other year and other wastes of money are why our taxes go up!
Challenger/Steve——-Do you have a crystal ball? You talk about gas being 1.75 when the project was supposed to start, yet it’s down to 1.46 in some spots, doesn’t that mean the cost of the project would go DOWN, not UP as you claimed? Where do you come up with your figures? Another million increase? PROVE IT to us all! Show me the money!!! Funny you call the plan “questionable” now, before you said it didn’t have a chabce, funny how things change.
Dan Cronin has said to us (The Friends) that the TIF would easily pass in the spring, so that’s a non-issue. The project could go if more of the public realized that a few residents should grow up and realize the theater plan would be good for the entire town!
