I have not been backed to Queens Village in over 40 years. Living now in Florida. I worked for Century theaters in 1952 to 1968 as assist mgr.and then as mgr.then later became a projectionist with Local 640.I have fond memories of Queens Village as I lived on 220th St. back in 1943. Next time I get up to NY I will try to visit the old village. Thanks for your note. Stay well. Regards, Artie
anyone out there still alive that remembers the old Queens Theater
Yes, Charlie Washburn was the business agent when I worked for Local 640. The local mailed me a note a few months ago telling me that Charlie had passed away.
Yes, I did work at many Century theatres as Manager from 1952 till 1969. After that I worked as a projectionist with Local 640, and retired in 1979.
Now I am retired, and living in Florida.
Best wishes to all.
I was the Manager of this theatre back in the Sixties, when Century theatres ran it. It was really a beautiful theatre. So sad that all the good ones are gone.
