  • <p>This striking mural of London’s most familiar landmark was a tribute to a country towards which Australians of the era, who were about 95% of British Isles origins, still had very strong ties and a wartime alliance which they had shared since the first day of the 1939-45 war. When in later years the theatre’s name was changed to the FORUM, a rather drab sepia-toned painting of the Forum in Rome took its place.</p>
