The Merrylands Kinema building design and construction was by Arthur Alfred Hackworthy [1889-1965] of Cabramatta. The previous year he was responsible for the Merrylands Masonic Hall (shown here) on the nearby corner of Pitt and McFarlane Streets. It was demolished some 50 years ago and a Centrelink office is now on the site next to Merrylands Mall – location of the Mall Cinema and later Hoyts Merrylands.
