  • <p>Amongst the patrons of the fabled Twilight Drive-In Theater in La Porte, Indiana, is a roster of monsters of the infamous American International Pictures. They include the fiends of such box office delights as “It Conquered The World” (1956), “The She-Creature” (1956), “I Was A Teenage Werewolf” (1957), “Invasion Of The Saucer Men” (1957), “I Was A Teenage Frankenstein” (1957), “Blood of Dracula” (1957), “The Screaming Skull” (1958), “How To Make A Monster” (1958), “War Of The Colossal Beast” (1958), “Earth Vs. The Spider” (1958), “Attack Of The Giant Leeches” (1959), and “The Angry Red Planet” (1959). This painting was first revealed at the Halloween Art Show at the Tonga Hut in North Hollywood, California (October - 2013). The alternate title of this piece is “Baby-Boomer Breeding-Ground”.</p> <p>This original painting was part of the “Stage and Screen” Art Show at the Carter Sexton Gallery in September 2014</p> <p>“Baby-Boomer Breeding-Ground”<br>was featured at The Aquarium of The Pacific’s<br>‘Night Dive’ event<br>on Friday, November 21, 2014,</p> <p>From the private collection of Beth Stelter.</p>

  • <p>Starlite Drive-In Theatre, 13 Tarleton Street, East Devonport, TAS – Photo Mike Donovan – Description of photo : Look to the Upper Lower Left Corner. You can see the large drive-in theatre screen, along with the entrance to the in & out drive-ways. This was located at the sea end of Tarleton Street, East Devonport. A mobile home cabin park now operates on this spot.   • <p>Tatler Theatrette 80 St. John Street, Launceston, TAS - (Later to become Cinema One)</p> <p>PHOTO - GRANT CURTAIN</p> <p>The Tatler Theatrette (Later to become Cinema One) was opened on 7th May 1958 with a Gala Charity Premiere of Danny Kaye in “Merry Andrew”. It was equipped to screen 16mm, 35mm, VistaVision and CinemaScope films. It operated as a newsreel/short subjects cinema for many years. On 30th June 1966 it began screening feature length films. It was closed for refurbishment on 10th October 1970.</p> <p>It re-opened with “Paint Your Wagon” as Cinema 1, operated by the Village Theatres chain. It was closed on 1st August 1981, and Village Theatres opened their new Village Twin on 4th August 1981.</p> <p>Cinema 1 became a Angus and Robinson bookshop which still operates in 2016.
