Todays photos are of the fire that took place at The Electric/Fox Theater on December 9th 1947 ~ Now History Museum on the Square The fire started in a lean-to at the back of the building and it was thought that the fire was out. Later ushers inside the theater noticed sparks coming from the roof before it collapsed in flames. It was reopened as the Fox Theatre which closed as a movie house in 1982.
Photo 2) We are on the Frisco Lofts looking west on Olive towards the back of the theater. The fireman are on top JC Penny and on Olive hosing down the theater. There is a Wilhoit Phillips 66 Gas station/parking lot in the foreground.
